Just one Haven Solar Roof Vent has the equivalent power of 23 outdated whirlybirds. Upgrade to efficiency today!
Stay cool and comfortable with Haven Solar Ventilation! Our powerful solar-powered, eco-friendly roof ventilation reduces heat build-up in your roof space and ceiling, which in turn lowers temperatures in your living space and lowers cooling costs.
Haven Solar Ventilation removes the hot air by bringing fresh, cooler air into your roof cavity through our range of eave vents, ceiling vents and/or ducting, keeping your home comfortable all year long.
Easily installed, Haven Solar Ventilators provide year-round efficiency, reducing heat in the summer and moisture in the winter.
Haven Solar Roof Ventilators are solar-powered with a fully adjustable solar panel for maximum efficiency. With an optional power pack available for backup when required.
One powerful Haven Solar Ventilator is the equivalent to 23 traditional whirly birds, think about that on your roof! They come in a sleek, modern design, and have a quiet, brushless DC motor.
It is important that replacement air is available so your Haven Solar Roof Ventilator works efficiently. We have a full range of eave and ceiling vents available to suit your requirements.
Supplied with a universal flashing, the Haven Solar Roof Ventilator is easy to install on most roof types. We can also supply custom flashings for all scenarios to make sure your unit is installed correctly.
Haven Solar Roof Ventilators have a fixed thermostat as standard. For optimal control, an adjustable thermostat is available
This is the most common installation. By installing the Haven D330-R as close as possible to the high point of your roof and installing vents in your eaves.
This type of installation removes large volumes of air directly from inside the house, but not from the roof space.
This is ideal for laundries and garages that build up with excessive heat
This type of installation vents the rooms and ceiling space removing hot air from the house as well as the ceiling space.
This works really well on multi level homes to reduce the heat in the upper levels
Ceiling temperatures can exceed 70 degrees in Summer, this accounts for 25-35% of the heat inside your home. Drawing fresh air from outside through your roof cavity, the Haven D300-R will bring your roof cavity closer to the outside ambient temperature.

Solar powered ventilators are more efficient, are easier to install, have more options for customization. Haven roof ventilators are adaptable to a wide range of climates, roof types and building styles, making them a better option than traditional whirlybirds.
Traditional whirlybirds do not actually draw the air out, they are essentially a hole in your roof that allows the hot air to escape, that is why on a hot still day, whirlybirds still rotate – it is the hot air rising that spins the whirlybird.
As the Haven D300 is thermostatically controlled, it is drawing air through your ceiling cavity as soon as the temperature in the cavity reaches 25 degrees – this helps maintain the temperature instead of allowing it to increase.
The Haven D300-R still helps in winter time, circulating the air in the roof cavity prevents condensation build up decreasing the chance of mould and mildew problems.
You would not believe the difference they made. I still can't believe just how much cooler the house is with the solar[vent] installed,”
Malcolm Ohlsen[installer] said we would not feel the effect of the [Solar Vent] until the next day, but that first day our house was noticeably cooler. The next morning we woke to a house that stayed considerably cooler than it had been two days before.
Stuart ChalmerHaven Roof ventilation fan units are capable of moving 10-30 times the amount of air that a Whirlybird moves.
This all depends on the type of Whirlybird, as well. An average Whirlybird moves around 100m3/h, and all our measurements and quotes derive from this measurement. The ‘average’ whirlybird would be equivalent to a stock-standard unit purchased from your local hardware warehouse.
Passive ventilation relies on unpredictable natural processes like wind and heat convection. As a result, passive ventilation works when the conditions are right and not necessarily when you need it to.
For example, a whirlybird will:
Furthermore, passive ventilation is nowhere near powerful enough to achieve the appropriate amount of ventilation you need. An average whirlybird unit is capable of ventilating around 100-150 m³/h in 12 km/h winds. A small roof space usually needs 700 m³/h of air movement to have a noticeable effect.
Our units are powered with solar, which is far more reliable than wind and can be backed up with mains power. Powered ventilation is capable of moving far more air than passive ventilation; our unit has a capacity of at least 1200m³/h!
Our Haven roof ventilators are supplied with high-quality solar PV panels that still supply power even in low-light conditions.
Low-light conditions will reduce the capacity at which the Haven unit can ventilate. However, even if it was running at half capacity, the Haven is still ventilating more than a standard whirlybird.
Using our Night Operations Kit with your Haven installation bypasses low-light conditions by “topping up” electricity from mains power to ensure 100% efficiency all day, every day.
Eave vents are important because they provide the coolest replacement air. Replacement air is dragged in by the Haven unit to ‘replace’ the hot air that is being extracted. This is an important principle for flushing out trapped air responsible for 25% to 35% of the heat in your home.
Without eave vents or other forms of air intake, a roof ventilator unit will struggle to extract air. It would be trying to pull air out of a vacuum.
Haven ventilators can be paired with a Night Operations Kit. This system uses mains power to top up the remaining power needed to run a unit at full power.
In low levels of sunlight the Night Operations Kit system will only draw the energy needed to keep your unit operating at full capacity. Once the sun has set the Night Operations Kit can power the unit completely, using minimal energy. It’s highly unlikely that it would require more than 24 watts
Night Operations Ki run from a 24-volt power supply connected to a power point in your roof space. This can be installed with the help of an electrician.
The Haven runs whenever there is active sunlight reaching the solar panel. This means that yes, the Haven will run in winter.
Haven offers both a Fixed Temperature Thermostat, and an Adjustable Temperature Thermostat to help the user control when, and how their unit operates:
Thermostats pair perfectly with Night Operations Kits to enable the user to have complete control over when the unit runs, even during the night.

Previously had two whirlybird extractor fans on roof. We had high expectations of one solar extractor fan. It is brilliant! It has been a very hot summer but we have used the air-con far less than any previous year. $$$$$
